Crowning Glory: Feather Headdresses

My current obsessions and infatuations are native inspired feather headdresses. These girls know how to rock a feather headdress.

  6. Please consider removing this post. Feather headdresses are not fashion statements or Halloween costumes; in the proper cultural context, the headdress has great ceremonial meaning. Indigenous peoples are not mascots, not characters or caricatures. We are human beings and I don’t want my grandchildren to experience the stereotyping that such cultural misappropriation leads to. I realize that many people feel they are “honoring” Indigenous peoples in this way but that is misguided, however well meant. It is obvious that you love beauty - please be conscious of cultural misappropriation as it was practiced by the designers you are featuring.

    1. Hi Julie,
Thank you for commenting and posting your thoughts. It is not my intention to make any stereotypes on this blog.
My blog is mainly to inspire visually with beautiful imagery, but thank you for bringing up this subject matter. I think this topic needs much deeper discussion.
