I wish I had spent more time traveling the remote areas of South East Asia discovering the Silk Road path and the many colorful fabric markets the region has to offer. I am a bit jealous of the photos my bf is sending me from Bangkok. Apart from his stint in Singapore, he has been taking side trips to a different city on the weekend.
This is just a typical Sunday afternoon in Chatuchak market, one of Bangkok's largest markets boasting over 8,000 stalls. You really could get lost. The heart of the silk industry in Thailand is located in Khorat. One day I will have to visit, but for now I just have these photos.

Interesting pics, i wish i could be there one day as well! It means that you don't have holidays anymore from now?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful sunday,

I'd love to go to one of those markets!
ReplyDeleteIt must fell like a dream!
My dream is to travel to exciting places someday but for now, I'll have to enjoy everyone else's great photos. That first picture with the colorful silk blows me away! Being a fabric nut like I am, I think I'd be in heaven being there in person. I love all those colors. I'd making up some desktop backgrounds and backgrounds for some of my scrap pages. Love that!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, what a lovely rich culture!

oh MY...we lived in Bangkok about 6 years ago and I didn't have a clue how to sew at the time...not to mention photography...I totally kick myself now for missing so much of what surrounded me. Your photos totally bring me back...
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I'm obsessed with colorful fabric. And I have always wanted to go to Thailand! I'll have to look out for good fabric when I do go there :)
ReplyDeleteI love Chatuchak and I love Bangkok. I was there in June but it is like I never get enough of it! You should join your bf in Singapore, my country :)
